August's machine tool orders regained some of their July losses, finishing at a $214 million level, the National Machine Tool Builders Association reports. This represents a 10 percent increase over July's orders. The added activity helped the year-to-date totals improve slightly, but 1981's orders are still running 35 percent behind the pace of 1980.
