A gold sun rose and a red sun set and in between were the dove-grey mist, the glowing green of a young birchwood, the warm earth's bronze, and the amethyst of shadowed hills, and an orange cat who lapped sweet cream with a coral tongue from a blue-rimmed bowl on a cool white porch where a mass of crimson roses clung.
