Spain asked about report of secret American base

A Socialist member of parliament has asked the government about the existence of what he called a secret American base south of Madrid. Amid negotiations on renewal of a treaty giving US military forcces the use of four bases in Spain, a report surfaced that an American weather station in the province of Toledo was reeally a monitoring station for underground nuclear explosions by other countries. The Spanish government did not deny the allegation, nor did the American Embassy comment beyond confirming that the installation is in fact a weather station.
