Pregnant women advised against drinking alcohol

The acting US surgeon general advised pregnant women and those expecting to become pregnant not to drink alcoholic beverages -- even in small amounts -- because of the health risk to the fetus. The warning was based on a report concluding that alcohol consumption during pregnancy, especially in t he early months, could be harmful.
