USSR sees new problems if US arms Afghan rebels

The Soviet Union said the readiness of the Reagan administration to supply arms to Afghan rebels would lead to new difficulties on the path to a political settlement. A Tass news agency statement, issued in the name of the Soviet leadership, sharply attacked President Reagan for his statement of March 9 that he would be prepared to supply the rebels with weapons.
