Climbing a Volcano

Have you ever climbed a volcano? Mount St. Helens in Washington has erupted countless times. Don't climb it! I climbed a volcano in Hawaii called Diamond Head. It's extinct, we think.

My family drove throught a tunnel to get to the parking lot in the middle of the crater. There was another tunnel along the hiking trail on the side of the mountain. It was dark and spooky and we had to hold hands.

We climbed a curvey path to the top ridge and saw Honolulu, mountains, ocean.

Grandma did all this hiking with sandals on!
