Korean elections set by Chun for March 25

President Chun Doo Hwan announced that South Korea will hold parliamentary elections on March 25. President Chun dissolved the previous 231-seat National Assembly and all existing political parties by promulgating his new Constitution last October, on the grounds that many former politicians were corrupt.

He then appointed an 81-member provisional legislature. It will function until the new 276-member parliamen t, is sworn in.
