Iran indicates it's ready to discuss end to war

Faced with a Kurdish rebellion in the north and Iraqi troops entrenched in its oil fields, Iran hinted it was ready to accept mediation efforts to end the four-month-old Gulf war. Hojatolislam Ali Khameini, the representative of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini on the Iranian defense council, was quoted by A Tehran newspaper as saying that a high-level Islamic mediation team would visit Iran. In New Delhi, diplomats confirmed the goodwill mission of Islamic leaders , most of them members of the Non-aligned Movement. Mr. Shahi, an envoy of the Islamic Conference organization, left Iran for Pakistan and will attend next week's conference of Non-aligned fo reign ministers in New Delhi.
