Desertion charge dropped but Garwood faces others

A military judge dismissed desertion and two other charges against accused Marine turncoat Robert Garwood, but let two other counts stand. The judge, Col. R. E. Switzer, let stand charges that Garwood collaborated with the enemy during his nearly 14 years behind enemy lines and that he struck another prisoner of war. Those charges will go to a five-membe r jury next week.
