Nobel Peace Prize winner Adolfo Perez Esquivel launched an international fund to encourage arms manufacturers to switch to producing nonlethal goods. The fund, expected to be financed largely by churches, is called the "Plowshare Fund" after the biblical text: "They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks."
