Many commercial pilots are putting their Air Force helmets back on. The recession is driving the pilots back to their old Air Force jobs. The Pentagon, faced with acute pilot shortages, is delighted. There may be as many as 2,700 out- of-work pilots just itching to get back behind the controls of F- 15 Eagles, C-141 Starlifters, and a host of other military machines.

An Air Force recruiting team plans to sign up airline "defectors" when it visits Los Angeles from Dec. 1-5 and Chicago from Dec. 8-12.m
