W. German cultural ties to be cut by E. Germany

East Germany will virtually sever cultural ties with West Germany in January as the next step in its current moves to freeze relations between the two states , informed sources said. Singers, musicians, and theater groups were informed by cultural authorities that no further tours would be staged in West Germany or West Berlin after the end of this year.The ban applies only to West Germany, and tours to other Western states will continue.
