Slump eases in domestic steel sales

Shipments of domestic steel products increased slightly in August, after dropping in July to the lowest level since October 1971, the American Iron and Steel Institute reports.

August shipments totaled 5.7 million net tons, compared with 5.4 million tons in July and 8.4 million in August 1979.
