Antidraft group plans campus rallies next week

Students for a Libertarian Society will sponsor antidraft activities on at least 50 campuses around the country on Monday, Oct. 13, to help launch "National Anti-Draft Week," called by the Committee Against Registration and the Draft (CARD), Monitor correspondent Steve Webbe reports. SLS will stage rallies , informational pickets, and literature distribution to persuade 18-year-olds not to register for the draft Jan. 5-10; to urge high school and college administrations "not to violate the privacy of their students by cooperating with selective-service enforcement efforts"; and to "oppose foreign military intervention, especially in the Mideast."
