Road traffic was nearly normal in the Irish Republic as troops driving commandeered gasoline tankers supplied service stations in place of the country's 1,000 striking tank truck drivers. The soldiers have delivered more than 1 million gallons since Prime Minister Charles Haughey ordered them last week to maintain supplies.
