Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

It's a long, long way from May to September, as the song almost says, but this year it often felt just as long from September to October. In New England it's a tropical heat wave one day and autumn leaves the next -- and back again. The result is like a vacation that somehow seems extended when spent in several places rather than one. It's neither one thing nor the other. But it hasn't been too bad.
Let's call it Septober, and enjoy.
