Violence from pig incident kills over 150 in India

Religious violence sweeping northern India continued over the weekened, claiming 152 lives in five days. The religious clashes began last Wednesday after a pig reportedly strayed into an open space where 50,000 Muslims had gathered to pray. Muslims believe the animal is the devil. Police, confronted by an angry mob, fired into the crowd an set off a stampede in which more than 50 people were trampled to death. The deaths ignited a backlash of revenge riots extending to New Delhi, 100 miles to the west.
