The UN will resume relief operations in the famine-stricken Karamoja region of northeast Uganda, which were suspended two weeks ago after armed bandits attacked a supply convoy. The Ugandan government will provide future convoys with increased protection, and it will assume responsibility for routes. It has accepted a French offer of two helicopters with unarmed military crews to help in the relief operation.
