Israeli opposition ends attempts to oust Begin

The opposition Labor Party in the Israeli Knesset abandoned attempts to topple Prime Minister Menachim Begins's shaky government Wednesday after failing to muster a majority. It had considered the possibility of presenting a no-confidence motion during a special session called to approve the appointment of Moshe Nissim as new justice minister.
