Ford plans fourth Mexican plant

Ford Motor Company is laying plans to build its fourth production plant inside Mexico. The proposed unit will turn out four-cylinder engines for Fords destined for North and Central America -- as well as for the domestic Mexican market. Officials say the planned facility will open up 1,000 new Mexican jobs and also indirectly provide about 800 jobs on component work in the United States. Although a site has not been announced, the plant is set to open by 1984.
