Final legislative leg for US synfuels program

The House began final congressional action Thursday on the $20 billion synthetic-fuels program, part of an energy package President Carter maintains will reduce dependence on foreign oil. Passage was expected, although opposition in the House was stronger than in the Senate, which passed the bill, 78 to 12, last week.
