Denver — My gerbil is named Star. My sister and I like to take our gerbis outside. One day, my sister accidentally let Star loose. It was a school day. Star ran under the wood pile. The wood pile is the one place in the backyard that we can't catch him, besides the raspberry bushes. (They don't count.) Well, anyway, we couldn't catch him. When it was time to go to school, I was very scared, because gerbils look very much like mice and rats and there was a cat in the backyard. I went to school. My face was very red. I was very mad. I was about to explode. I was very mad the whole day of school. When I got home I found out that my mom had caught him. I told Star that he was a bad boy. He didn't care what I said. He only cares if I shout or whisper. He knows that he's bad if I shout. Well, anyway, I couldn't punish him. He had just woken up. I didn't want him to think that he was bad for going to sleep. Star is still nice anyway.
