CAB gives airlines option to increase foreign fares
The Civil Aeronautics Board has approved another round of international air fare increases ranging from 6.1 percent to 9 percent, effective April 1. It was the second set of foreign fare authorizations this year under a new system for analyzing international airfare increase proposals from the airlines. The board also continued its policy of giving airlines on North Atlantic routes discretion to raise fares 5 percent above the foreign-fare ceiling to account for the fact that board's method of determining inflation appears to understate future cost increases.
