Oil worker union drops a key contract demand

The Oil, Chemical, and Atomic Workers Union, hoping to end an oil refinery strike now in its fourth week, has dropped its demand for fully paid health insurance, a major stumbling block in negotiations, a spokeman said Wednesday. About 60,000 OCAW members walked out Jan. 8 against the nation's major oil companies, seeking the insurance as one of their top demands.
