Lance jury's task begins

Six men and six women jurors have been chosen in the trial here of President Carter's former budget Director, T. Bertram Lance, Monitor correspondent Robert M. Press reports. The jury will hear an estimated two to three months of detailed testimony concerning allegations that Mr. Lance and three others knowingly violated federal banking laws.

As the jury began to hear the case Tuesday, dozens of thick volumes of computerized bank reports lay on the courtroom floor. Some of the data will likely be entered as evidence.

The trial will likely involve testimony by a number of bank officials. The US Justice Departments is prosecuting the case.
